Mary Davie

Was a Licensed Davis Dyslexia Correction® Facilitator for nearly 20 years (2005-2023)

With a university degree in Physical Education, Mary is also a qualified Primary School teacher originally from Christchurch, New Zealand. After several years teaching, she returned to university to complete a Bachelor of Education and part of a Masters in Education. She has two children and, when her bright young son began having difficulties at school, she spent four years home schooling both children. In her quest to discover a means to help him, a friend introduced her to book, “The Gift of Dyslexia,” by Ronald D. Davis.

Mary couldn’t believe what she was reading! Not only was her son perfectly described, but also many of the pupils who had had difficulties in her years of classroom experience whose challenges and gifts had been so perplexing. Mary’s son, like many others, is an intelligent picture thinker who couldn’t relate to traditional teaching methods.

The strategies covered every aspect of every symptom Mary had encountered. The big difference was coming in at the root cause — nipping it in the bud. When learning difficulties are accurately described from this perspective, the wide range of symptoms makes sense. Those previously disadvantaged now excel. Her son has since completed a College Degree in the USA and gone on to play his chosen sport professionally in several of the world’s hardest professional leagues. In his spare time he reads for pleasure! At the same time his journey began, Mary set off on a parallel course and began the most fantastic journey, training to become a Davis Dyslexia Correction® Facilitator until 2023. Ron Davis himself led her theoretical training, which was a huge privilege.

Mary travels to her clients, where in the space of their own home, learners can experience a one week one-on-one, programme. The programme is based on Mary’s experience as a classroom teacher in New Zealand, homeschooling her dyslexic thinking son along with her nearly 20 years as a Licensed Davis Dyslexia Correction Facilitator.  Mary has produced original resources from her wide experience and a wealth of insights from her pupils over the years. The programme is designed and individually modified to instil confidence, provide strategies, and original resources to support those with learning difficulties, allowing clients to go on and meet their full potential in the world.
